Drama Department Head - International Community School (2012 to 2014)

 

Black Box Theatre Design Consultation and Oversight of Final Equipment Installation-ICS (2012 to 2013)

Was responsible for final design, equipping and preparation of Black Box Theatre Studio from concrete block phase to final installation of theatre lighting and sound equipment at International Community School of Amman, Jordan 

 

Black Box Theatre Design Consultation and Oversight of Final Equipment Installation-GEMS Abu Dhabi (2011 to 2012)

Was responsible for final design, equipping and preparation of Black Box Theatre Studio from concrete block phase to final installation of theatre lighting and sound equipment at GEMS American Academy Abu Dhabi (2011 to 2012)

 

Wake Count Public Schools Top 5 Scoring English Teachers in Reading Proficiency Among African American Males on NC End of Grade Eng. I Test. 

 

East Wake School of Engineering Systems Blackboard Liaison (2009 to 2011 )

Provided instruction and oversight for EWSES staff whole school professional development for setup, usage, and maintenance of Blackboard sites as well as individual maintenance of classroom teacher use. .

 

EWSES Freshman Professional Learning Team Facilitator (2009-2011)

Responsible for leading the Freshman PLT in analyzing student data and using it to discuss the effectiveness of curricular strategies.  I facilitated brainstorming sessions geared toward making any necessary adjustments in instruction.

 

 Wake County Public School System Mentor Teacher (2008 to 2011)

Assigned mentorship of teachers in Beginning Teacher Support Program (Years 1-3) including weekly one on one and monthly whole groups meetings.  Coaching, observational assessments, data reporting and curricular support.

 

East Wake High Coordinator for the National Poetry Out Loud Recitation Contest (2009/2010)

Responsible for facilitating classroom level and then whole school level of National Poetry Out Loud Recitation Contest including  advising teachers and monitoring adherence to school level guidelines, planning whole school finals competition, including recruiting school level judging panel

 

Wake County Coordinator for the National Poetry Out Loud Recitation Contest (2010/2011)

Responsible for assisting English Faculty at Wake County public and private high schools in implementing classroom and school-wide Poetry Out Loud Competition sponsored by the North Carolina Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts., monitoring adherence to national contest guidelines, and serving as liaison between School Coordinators and sponsoring  arts councils. As well, I recruited local celebrities to serve on a panel of judges for both our school level and county level competitions and organize a committee of parent and teacher volunteers to assist in hosting the Wake County Poetry Out Loud Finals. 

 

Zebulon Gifted and Talented Magnet Middle School Teacher of the Year Finalist (2008-2009)

 

8th Grade Language Arts PLT Facilitator.

As such, I gathered Blue Diamond Testing data for team analysis to facilitate discussions on the effectiveness of instructional strategies and led the team in designing common formative and summative assessments. In addition, I gathered data and input from freshman English teachers district wide for use in developing, a listof 10 Reading and Writing Skills Required for High School Readiness. (2007/2008, 2008/2009)

 

Designed Zebulon GT Magnet Middle School Whole School EOG Final Push (2008/2009)

  Designed curricular for skill specific lesson plans for use by all non-Language Arts faculty at Zebulon MS for a 60 min. a day EOG remediation program implemented for the 6 weeks prior to EOG Testing.

 

 Designed, produced, and directed Word On! Poetry Slam and Recitation Contest.

I organized a committee of parents and a team of teachers to help execute the program. Art Teacher’s designed promotional materials, Math Teachers served as scorers, while other faculty performed their favorite poems or oversaw parent and student volunteers. This program was presented in the media center which was decorated to resemble a 60’s Beatnik Coffee House. (Spring 2009)

 

 Implemented School Wide Sustained Silent Reading Program  

Research I had gathered reading *books on the value of Sustained Silent Reading in secondary education to both the Zebulon Middle School Leadership Team and School Improvement Committee in an effort to  implement a school- wide shared time of Sustained Silent Reading as a viable strategy for improving EOG scores.  The Program was implemented for the 2007/2008 school year and I was enlisted to train staff on successful techniques for use in managing their students during SSR.  (Oct. 2007) (*The SSR Handbook: How to  Organize and Manage a Sustained Silent Reading Program by Janice Pilgreen, Yellow Brick Roads, Shared and Guided Paths to Independent Reading 4-12 by Janet Allen, and Building Student Literacy Through Sustained Silent Reading by Steve Gardiner)
